In addition to being odious, it turns out Brooklyn is odiferous as well! I thought oil spills only happen in Alaska…turns out we can have our own genuine oil slick right here in Greenpoint! Apparently the oil companies caused this environmental disaster (let’s not dance around it) over the course of the last century! How is that for committment!

I have had the unfortunate experience to be forced to live in Brooklyn for a hospital residency. What I could never understand is the lack of pride in your own community here. If people are so proud to be Brooklynites then why is there garbage in the streets? People screaming at each other for the most mundane things? There is actually a house a block from work that is decorated with garbage…mostly coke bottles and Tide detergent caps on the metal posts of the fence. The other day I saw the owner put a can of empty cat food on the fence and a doll’s head. Am I the only one who finds this mildly disturbing? And so much spitting out of the car window…..I find this place to be a disgusting place to live and the equivalent to hell on earth. Completely lawless. The apocalypse.
